The third Boxing Day Community Fun Run was a BIG SUCCESS with over 110 adults and juniors running the 5k timed event. The 2k family event was as popular as ever. Everyone finished with a smile on their face and we raised much needed funds for Lyndhurst Food Bank and the Community Centre.

Medals were awarded to the fastest 5k runners at the Community Centre after the Run, where food and hot drinks were waiting. Thanks to the hard-working volunteers in the kitchen, over £250 was raised for the Community Centre. We were pleased to support Lyndhurst Food Bank again this year. Donations before and after the event (including sponsorship from Lime Wood Hotels) raised £500 to help them continue their much-needed work in our Community.
The Community Run could not have gone ahead without the help of the volunteer marshals, who ensured the safety and smooth running on the day, as well as timekeeping. Additional thanks for the support from High Street businesses Southern Coop and The Stag Hotel, who provided the much-appreciated refuelling after the Run.
However, the main thanks go to Colin Johnson, whose idea and hard work have made the past three years a great success. Colin’s vision and enthusiasm for getting families out in the forest and supporting local charities at this particularly difficult time of year is an inspiration and we are delighted to have worked with Colin in establishing this community event.
The team will be taking a break in 2024 but we look forward to seein you all again in 2025.
